Population Explosion

Calgary’s population doubled in the last 30 years and will double again in the next 30.

Calgary is growing by tens of thousands of people every year, with no sign of slowing down. In fact, we are currently breaking growth records. Between 2013 and 2014, our population increased by nearly 40,000. By 2041, the Calgary Region will be home to 2.4 million people.

And that’s good news. A robust economy drives population growth, and Alberta’s economy has grown at double the rate of the Canadian average over the past three years, according to Alberta Treasury and Finance.

People will be coming from all over Canada and all over the world, because our thriving economy creates jobs. And they’ll all need somewhere to live.

“Almost everywhere we look, we see signs of a booming economy.”
